Digital Photography Service To Kids

Digital Photography Service To Kids

With some skill and enterprise, most digital photographers will be able to turn their hobby into cash in many ways. Here is one way to get started in your digital photography business.

Your first opportunity could be to visit a children's toy store, book store or clothing store, or the children's department in a department store. Speak to the store manager and negotiate a deal where you can take photographs of children at the store at specific times, possibly Friday evenings or Saturdays.

Ask that the store promotes your digital photography service when they advertise their regular specials. The store benefits because you help them attract more customers. You benefit because you start taking orders. The parents and kids will benefit because they get some good photographs for their albums. It's win-win-win situation for all.
You will need a few items.

First, you need a 'set' to use as a background. Building one yourself is an option. You can create a backdrop draped with sheets or fabric. The store may even have ready and suitable board on hand from their displays. Look for solid colors as it works best. A black or neutral shade compliments any color clothing the child might be wearing. You don't want a busy background - too many graphics will detract from your subjects.

You might need special lights. Go to the store before hand to test the lighting ahead of time so you don't get unpleasant surprises on the first day. If the lighting is inadequate, you can purchase or hire photography lights at various photo stores.

Putting up an eye catching poster promoting your service and your prices is a must. You can create this yourself using your computer using any desktop publishing program. As your home printer won't handle poster size print outs, take it to a digital printing service provider and have them print it out for you. You should be able to find one near your home.

You are in business, so, you need an order book or notebook for taking orders. On your order form, you should have details like: your business name, contact information and the type of photography you are offering. Also, include lines for the customer's name, contact information and notes about the photographs. You will need two copies of these order sheets - one for the customer, and one for your own records.

You will also need a record book to record each and everyone photograph you take. Don't confuse the Smith family photos with the Jones family photos. Or you'll be in trouble.

Collect a down payment or payment in full at the time you take the photographs. The down payment amount should be an amount sufficient to cover your printing expenses if the customer doesn't follow through.

For collection of the prints, it is good to have the customer can pick them up at the store. Remind the store manager that this brings the customer back into the store where they are likely to shop once again.
With the prints it is good to include a coupon for a discount on the next order, or perhaps a coupon they can pass along to their friends. You can also offer a free photo session to any customer who refers three new customers to you.

Another delivery option is to upload the photographs to a web site and allow your customers to download and print them as they choose. This method saves you the cost and work of printing and delivering photographs. You will need a proper ecommerce enabled website for storage, browsing, payment gateway and downloading.

A good time for such in-store promotions is during kid-friendly occasions, such as Christmas, Easter, Halloween or the start of the school year. This money making digital photography tip is a sure winner. You will never run out of proud parents wanting professional images of their children.
