Teaching Digital Photography to eBay Sellers

Teaching Digital Photography to eBay Sellers

You can make money from Bay sellers. Think eBay and other online auctions. There are at least three ways you can go about making money this way.

1. eBay sellers require photos to sell their products. You can teach new eBay sellers on the art of taking effective pictures with a digital camera. You can offer this online as an e-course, or you could advertise in your local community newspaper to attract participants to a classroom coaching.

2. Market your services to eBay super sellers living in your area. These people sell a great many items on eBay. Time is money, and many will agree it is to their advantage to engage your services to photographs the sale items. Offer to upload the digital photographs as part of your service.

3. You could become an eBay seller yourself. Scour yard sales, craft sales and other venues for interesting objects that you can purchase at a good price. Put your digital photography skills to work, take an excellent photograph and become a seller. The eBay Help Center tells you what you need to know about eBay's photo requirements. Be sure to check it out.

Digital Photography is a must for online auctions. Here are some digital photography tips when photographing items for online auctions.
First point, photograph your subject in natural lighting. Incandescent or fluorescent lights create an undesirable color cast. Some digital cameras have a feature that adjusts your white balance so you can reduce or eliminate this unwanted color cast. However, having a natural light source, such as from a window, balcony or patio is always best.

When taking indoors, try to shoot in good light so that there is no need to use your flash unit. You want to avoid the unwanted glare that happens when the flash strobes a shiny surface, such as jewelry, acetate or glass.

If the room is too dark and requires a flash, try adding a second light source. You might place a light bulb to one side, so you get light from both the window and the bulb. If you plan to do a lot of digital photography for online auctions, you might want to invest in a lighting system.

When photographing for the web, set your digital camera to take at the smallest possible resolution, usually a setting of about 640 by 480. There is no need to take up your media's storage space with huge pictures when you must reduce them in size to accommodate eBay's requirements.

Digital cameras are very sensitive to motion or vibration, thus, using a tripod is a good practice. You might be able to set the camera on a table or stand and use the Self Timer to take the picture - but tripods are affordable and in the long run, they are your best choice. You don't want a blurred image. You can buy mini tripods, great for photographing small items, on eBay for as little as one dollar. You can find a wider selection at your local photographic equipment store.

You may also require a digital photo editing software such as the excellent Photoshop Elements 5.0. You might get away with using eBay's Basic and Enhanced Picture Services. Put your digital photography skills to work for online auctions and watch the sales roll in.
